Hello,
Welcome to the April Newsletter.
This is
Easter month. Which
means a
holiday break for
many. A
vacation, no matter
how short
usually
means people hit
the highways,
and rush
for a break.So,
whether
you are a holiday
maker,
or simply a
pedestrian,
take care. Driving long distances always means
fatigue.
Grab a
sleep before heading
off. Take
regular
breaks en route. Share driving as much as
possible.
If you
can, plan not
to drive
into the
sun which
is tough
on eyes
and visibility.
Long term
sunshine
leads to
cataracts
and poor
vision.
Make sure windscreens are clean, tyres in good condition,
and car
not
overloaded.
Check kids
in the
back belt up too.

Driving can become hypnotic hour after hour, specially on
straight roads. Take bottles of water. Nobody owns the roads,
we all do. Think of the other person, and show some courtesy.
Most road accidents are due to speeding, rudeness, inattention
and often alcohol. Don’t cross double lines or try and
pass on bends. Many do.
When walking, use your eyes before crossing roads. Zebra
crossings are not entirely safe, neither are safety zones
in the middle of roads. Standing on median strips is crazy.
The old fashioned advice Stop Look Listen is still very relevant,
and could save your life. Wet roads and pathways are invariably
slippery, so take care.
Pay us a visit at “Vimiera Village”, Sydney’s
newest lifestyle resort for the retired, at 217 Vimiera Road,
Eastwood. Talk to David or Robyn on 9868 7544. I am often
there also. By the way, catch our programme on Radio 2UE 7-9
pm Sundays.
