Hello Friends Everywhere

If you have jumpy legs, and kick your partner at night, or feel fizzy drink is running up down the vessels don’t despair. This is probably Restless Leg Syndrome, awfully common.

It is worse at night when lying flat in bed. Then blood tends to stagnate, toxins build up causing abrupt muscle fibre spasm. So you kick out, and look out whoever is at the other end.

But some cases are due to a lack of a chemical normally produced by the body. We don’t have a replacement for this yet, but eventually will.

What to do? Jump out of bed, walk on cold tiles. Massage the calf muscles briskly with your knuckles. Take twenty walking steps “on the spot.” Avoid heavy bedclothes. Place old things in a pillow case and make a ball at the foot of the bed. This marginally elevates bedclothes reducing pressure on the vessels. Some say 600 mg calcium (Caltrate) twice a day might help a bit. Maybe a check for sugar and cholesterol and other nasties by your doctor is worthwhile if it persists.
