With
autumn and winter months already here, its time to consider
ways to prevent colds, the flu, and chest problems.
Avoid sudden temperature changes. Probably wrap up if
you’re out after dark. Eat three simple sensible
meals each day. Fruit, vegetables, legumes, (beans,
peas, legumes, peanuts), lean meat, fish, shoots, nuts,
cereals, wholemeal breads, low fat dairy products head
the list. Drink 1.5 litres of water a day. |
Take
a daily walk
(ideally 30 minutes is great). Don’t
smoke and keep
away form smokers, now just as dangerous as smoking. Around
2 glasses of red wine a day (or second
daily) is claimed
to protect the heart but I have my doubts.
Vitamin
C 2,500 mg a day may strengthen the immune system. 6-8 hours
sleep a night is also very effective. Be nice to others,
and they will be nice back! I think supplemental vitamins
a good idea. Also, for older people a 600 mg Caltralte (calcium)
tablet strengthens bones.
