Hello there

Would you believe it, but March has arrived. Which means cooler days, and balmy nights. Here are a few tips to make sure you do OK in the “change of season”.

Heaps continue to throw bedclothes off at night. Bit by bit, the nights will start to cool down specially around 3 am when you are asleep. It is easy to get cold and “catch a chill”. Be careful.

Also, the sneezy weather continues, for as one set of pollens settles down, another set arises. House dust is also an annoyance during any season. This causes itchy noses, sometimes itchy skin and breathing difficulties. If an asthmatic, continuation of medication is important, specially in the young.

I think I often see more “wheezes sneezes and running clogged nostrils” in autumn than in mid winter, when we tend to be more careful in keeping away from chills. So be a devil, cover your nose and mouth when coughing and sneezing. If using your hand please wash before proffering it to the next person you meet and sharing the bugs. A disinfectant impregnated paper tissue is now cheaply available Use as a hand wipe and destroy the germs. Keep a box handy.

You do not need antibiotics and heaps of drugs for simple infections like this. Nature will fix 99 per cent in a few days. But avoid them in the first place. Dr Nature is an amazing entity, costs nothing (except a bit of time and common sense), and saves Medicare heaps!
