Greeting to my many friends. Welcome to Novembers letter
Today it’s the gut again. This time the big one called the “colo-rectal region”. Sounds a bit yuk.
This is a favourite hidey hole for the big “C”, you know, cancer. It commonly starts anywhere from 50 on. There are often few if any tell tale symptoms.
By the time there is weight loss for no good reason, passing blood and mucous, alternating constipation and looseness, or simply constipation, it is often “too late.”

I believe most should have a colonoscopy sometime after 50. Under light anaesthetic a tube is inserted providing very clear pictures on a VDU screen alongside.
Early cancers called “polyps” grow slowly, but may turn into serious invasive deadly cancer. These are readily picked up and removed under colonoscopy.
How to avoid? Eat lots of fresh fruit and vegetables, go easy on alcohol and too much red meat and fats. Coarse fibre foods are fine, and include fruit, veggies, cereals, wholemeal breads, shoots, nuts and berries. Drink lots of water and do not smoke.
ASSISTED LIVING UNITS
“Assisted Living Units” are a bit smaller than independent living ones, are much cheaper on entry, ad these are now in operation at Vimiera Village, 217 Vimiera Road, Eastwood. Take a virtual tour on vimieravillage.com.au
Three home cooked meals a day, morning and afternoon tea, domestic cleaning of common areas, weekly linen service, emergency on call, 24 hour management, and access to the lovely village centre are just a few of the features.
These units are going fast.
Ring David or Robyn today for an inspection on 9868 7544.
Best wishes until December. From your friend,
