Hello to all my friends,
We all get tummy upsets Dyspepsia, bloating, flatulence. Ugh! It’s part of life. But please, be sensible. Listen to your body – specially your rumbling gut. What is it trying to say?
Many cases are due to excessive acid production. This often causes heartburn and the other symptoms.
What to do? |
- Eat smaller meals. Take your time. Put your fork down between mouthfuls
- Select a quiet stress free environment. Away from babbling humanity and phones
- Ideally have some congenial company.
- Avoid cigarettes and too much grog or fizzy drinks
- Throw down a couple of antacid tablets (Heaps available like Mylanta)
- Check on bowel regularity. Constipation is a warning. So is looseness. Worse if alternating.
- Any persisting symptoms need prompt medical investigation
- Endoscopy looks directly at the stomach and duodenal lining
- If inflamed, or eroded (ulcer) medication will quickly heal
- Cancer is a huge bogey in those over 60. Symptoms often minimal
- Only a medical check will give the answer and point to correct management.
