Hello,
Wonderful sunny days have arrived, clear
air and blue skies. Great to be alive. Unless you’re
bugged by sneezes, itchy skin, irritable ears and nose,
dribbling nostrils, dry throat and maybe a raspy throat
and bit of a wheeze. Spring Fever has hit you. The allergy
time is here as pollens from flowering grasses and trees
fill the atmosphere. How to cope:

DR WRIGHTS TEN POINT PLAN FOR SPRING FEVER
- Drink lots of water
- Gargle throat
with warm
salty water 2-3 hourly
- Apply a
cold
facecloth to the skin, eyes, ears for increased comfort
and
itch reduction
- Keep windows
closed
- Pollens
drop
from
the sky and explode
towards
evening, so come indoors early if possible
- Brush
clothing
and
hair (often laden
with
pollen)
before coming inside
- Telfast
and claratayne
are the non sedating antihisitamines which may
give relief
- Paracetamol
tablets relieve
pain (if
present) but also reduce the itch factor (pain
and itch
are carried
on the same nerves) Avoid travelling into the
country on weekend.
- Liquid
tears often
give eye relief, or the anti-histamine
drops
- See
the doctor
if
this persists.
(A cortisone injection
at
the start
of the season can often help).
